Minecraft – Building Blocks and Endless Fun

A new dawn is upon us. The dawn of Minecraft.

Minecraft is very unique indie game which has been hugely successful even in its pre-Beta (alpha) stage of the game’s development. To sum it up, it is a game where you mine and craft. Sounds too simple and too boring? This is exactly what I thought before I received Minecraft as a gift from a friend of mine. I thought Minecraft would be what it looked on videos; a sandbox game with no objective or goal with poor graphics and dull sounds.

Alas, I take all of that entirely back. Minecraft is one of the best games I’ve played with never-ending entertainment all of the time. There are endless things to do in Minecraft; whether it is to build a castle, blow up some stuff with TNT explosives, build a rollercoaster, develop a town, or as I’m currently doing; building a floating glass observatory above the clouds. Minecraft features a challenging mechanic; monsters that come out at night and attack you. To fend and hide against these monstrosities you will have to build your shelter. As time progresses you could turn your former hiding hole into a magnificent mansion. With one person playing it can be an absolute cracker to play, but you won’t have experienced the full ride of fun until you play Minecraft’s strong point; multiplayer.

You can adventure forth as far as you want on the landscape, crossing rivers, oceans, mountains, hills, gorges, waterfalls, forests, cliffs, and even a mountain of sand as you find the perfect place to develop your land into your own creations. You can see what other people have accomplished and you can build your own with a few friends. Multiplayer really is a very interesting experience overall, because anything can happen, anywhere. You could have a competition with other people to build a specific object to highlight one’s craftsmanship expertise, maybe a game of bows and arrows to see who is the master in marksmanship, or develop your own little settlement; complete with houses, farms, a river or water supply, and most importantly; a quarry for your mining pastimes and exploration.

Even though Minecraft is still in its alpha stage of development, it is a hugely popular and very fun game to play. Bugs and glitches are being fixed constantly as the developer Notch works hard to put the game in beta. This game will be the kind of game which people will still play years and years after its appearance. Minecraft has endless possibilities and will appeal to players of all ages and interests.
